Yolande Robinson is passionate about education. She is a trained Kindergarten and Elementary School teacher with a Master of Education in Educational Psychology that has worked in the field of education for over 24 years. Yolande, a first generation Canadian to parents from the Caribbean, made the Turks and Caicos Islands her home 15 years ago. She is married to the Hon. Jamell Robinson, Deputy Premier and Minister of Physical Planning and Infrastructural Development of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
The Robinsons began their life together in the Nation’s Capital of Grand Turk. It was in this period that they decided to open Learn and Lead Educational Center, a place where they could channel their mutual love for education and empowerment into services that made an impact. Learn and Lead first began in their home serving a small number of children in the community and has expanded beyond its well-known one-on-one intervention program to serve hundreds of students, parents, and professionals monthly through teaching, coaching, training, and speaking services.
Yolande’s passion and dedication to educating, inspiring and empowering individuals throughout the islands of the Turks and Caicos is well known. She is driven to support people in understanding and reaching their potential through obtaining three essential outcomes: learning, skills development and positive behavioral change. These three outcomes are also at the core of all services provided at Learn and Lead.
In 2020, Yolande began the Shifting Perspectives podcast as a passion project. Her focus was on interviewing women from around the Caribbean diaspora with the intent of providing listeners with conversations they could connect with and gain perspective from, to fuel the way they thought, lived their lives, worked, and parented. After a hiatus, Yolande relaunched the podcast with her a co-host, Latasha Strachan, of the Bahamas, in 2023. Shifting perspectives has been heard in over 60 countries and over 560 cities. Listeners have expressed how much they enjoy the topics covered and the conversation that cause them to examine their paradigms.
Yolande is a mother of 3. Her children keep her busy but grounded. For her, they are constant a reminder of the importance of embracing wholehearted living and being present in day-to-day moments of joy.
