I have been a fan of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie for many years. Her Ted Talk that highlights The Danger of a Single Story, is one that gripped me from the time I heard it.
Although I have watched many of her talks, this is the first of her novels I have read. It certainly did not disappoint!
In Americanah, we follow the life of Ifemelu, a Nigerian woman who immigrates to the United States in her college years. Adichie takes the reader through this experience that is full of the joys and challenges of love, race, and immigration in America.
Ifemelu later returns to Nigeria and a special romance is rekindled, but not without the challenges that are a symptom of the many years they have spent apart. This week's read is a change of pace! Enjoy.
Shifting Perspectives is a weekly conversation with Yolande. Yolande, a Canadian of Caribbean descent, now calls the Turks and Caicos Islands home and in this podcast challenges Caribbean woman worldwide to fuel themselves with diversity in the way they think, the way they work, the way they parent and the way they live.
